Question and Answer Advice, Tips, and Insights From Folks Who Have Been There Before...

Question:
We're expanding our restaurant business of 6 years to include mid to high end gift items. Has anyone had experience with this? Does the hostess handle the check-out (we are self-banked). The retail end of things will be located upstairs with our 60+ seat restaurant remaining downstairs. Is theft a big problem? What about offering a nominal "commission" to servers who take the time to advise someone about something upstairs that they eventually buy? Help!
